In this article and video I dive into how to create blog and social media images with PowerPoint templates.

Check out the video above, and if you’d like written instructions, keep on reading. 🙂

The advantage to creating blog and social media images with PowerPoint templates, especially if you’re like me, and you don’t have a design background is that templates give you a head start.

Using Built in PowerPoint Templates to Create Blog and Social Media Images

When you open up a blank PowerPoint presentation, you’ll start with a blank slide, with no design. To get to the templates, click on the Design tab. From there, you’ll see several templates, or themes, as shown in the image below.

We’ll start off with this template:

I like the overall look of this, but the great thing about it is that you can change the color and the font to match your brand. To change the color and font in PowerPoint, click on the arrow to the right of either the color and font option, as shown in the image below.

When you click on those arrows, here’s what you’ll see:

As you can see, there are a lot of color and font options so that you can easily go from the default color and font shown above to something like this:

PowerPoint Template Variations

Now another thing I love is that each of these templates here have variations. As an example, here are just a few of the variations available with our original template.

Combining Different Slide Layouts with Templates to Create Blog and Social Media Graphics in PowerPoint

In addition to using various templates, fonts, and colors, you can also choose from a variety of slide layouts in PowerPoint to create graphics for your blog and social media.

So, the point is, right from within these templates, you have a lot of built in variety. I definitely recommend starting off by creating your blog and social media images using PowerPoint templates, especially if you’re new to design and want help with font choice and layouts.

Recommended Resources

If you want to go beyond the built in PowerPoint templates, I highly recommend PresenterMedia PowerPoint templates. I use them for images and videos. It's the most reasonably priced premium PowerPoint template source I've found.

PowerPoint 365

While you can do everything in this video and article in older versions of PowerPoint, I strongly recommend PowerPoint 365 if you want to take your graphic design skills up a notch.
